Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Project Officer to join our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives related to QPS watch-houses, working closely with the State Custody Unit and the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs Youth Justice Custody Team.

QPS provides places of detention across the state for persons who have been denied bail and are awaiting their first or subsequent appearance in court. Following the decision of the court, prisoners who are remanded or sentenced then remain in a QPS Watchhouse until they are transferred to either youth detention or correctional centre.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders to monitor all youths in custody in watchhouses and the movements from Youth Detention Centres across the state daily. A strong and inclusive team culture committed to the development and growth of our members is paramount.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Identify and Evaluate Opportunities
    • Enhance business improvement by identifying opportunities that align with our organizational goals.
  • Provide Strategic Direction
    • Plan, deliver and support business services, programs and projects, including resource deployment, policy alignment, change management, communications, stakeholder engagement, expenditure, staff development and counselling.
  • Provide Expert Advice
    • Support leadership teams, stakeholder groups and program and project teams in delivering results-driven outcomes.
  • Lead and Manage Programs
    • Use contemporary program and project management frameworks, methodologies and policies to lead assigned activities.
  • Guide Stakeholders
    • Facilitate informed business decisions, improve business processes and meet changing business needs through effective communication.
  • Maintain Relationships
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including QPS members and partner agencies.
  • Evaluate Progress
    • Monitor and evaluate work deliverables, initiatives and business support priorities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Implement Change Management
    • Develop and implement change management and communications initiatives that complement business improvements and drive positive change.

A contemporary Project Management qualification/s and/or a tertiary qualification in a relevant field would be highly regarded. Applications will remain current for 12 months.
