Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Jerrabomberra High School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting students with a range of disabilities, including emotional disturbance.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new school that has opened in 2023. Our school is committed to providing a comprehensive and inclusive education to students, and we are looking for a teacher who shares our vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement innovative programs to support students with disabilities
  • Work collaboratively with the special education team to ensure suitable learning supports are in place for all students
  • Develop and implement Individual Education, Health and Behaviour Plans to cater for the social, emotional, sensory and communication needs of our students
  • Contribute to inclusive practices across the whole school as a member of the Learning and Support Team
Requirements
  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, Mild and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, Behavioural difficulties and Emotional Disturbance in a Secondary Educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate flexible and innovative teaching and learning opportunities for students with disability
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of a diverse range of students, including those with emotional diagnosis and behavioural needs
