Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Jerrabomberra High School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work closely with students with a range of disabilities, including emotional disturbance, to develop and implement innovative programs and ensure suitable learning supports are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with disabilities
  • Work collaboratively with the special education team to provide support and resources for students
  • Assess and evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to ensure student success

Requirements:

  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, Mild and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, Behavioural difficulties and Emotional Disturbance in a Secondary Educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate flexible and innovative teaching and learning opportunities for students with disability
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills working effectively with staff, parents and key stakeholders

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week. The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with the special education team and other staff members to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students.
