Bomaderry High School Special Education Head Teacher

Bomaderry High School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Education Head Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Head Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting students with disabilities and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and passionate educator to make a real difference in the lives of our students. As a Special Education Head Teacher, you will be responsible for leading and managing the school's special education programs, working closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the school's special education programs, including the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality support to students with disabilities, including the provision of accommodations and modifications to ensure equal access to education.
  • Collaborate with parents and carers to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed, including the provision of regular progress updates and communication.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior and reduce challenging behavior in students with disabilities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives to promote inclusion and diversity, including the development of policies and procedures to support students with disabilities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong background in special education, including experience working with students with a range of disabilities.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and manage a team of staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze student data to develop differentiated practice leading to improved outcomes for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of available and appropriate options for transition to the setting that is best for individual student growth in all areas of learning and wellbeing.
