Senior Software Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead our team in Melbourne. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of business projects and driving business development activities.

About the Role:

  • Maintain high standards of software quality, development, design, and testing principles within the team.
  • Participate in analysis and solution implementation with teammates and provide technical and functional leadership to colleagues.
  • Perform regular IT review of solution designs and code to identify areas of improvement.
  • Develop and implement knowledge management strategies for the team.
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
  • Organize team activities (resource allocation, planning) and ensure knowledge sharing between team members.
  • Encourage innovation and facilitate effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Coach team members to achieve desired results.

Requirements:

  • 7-15 years of experience related to software engineering management.
  • 5+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages (C# is a plus) and awareness of latest frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a software engineering team.
  • Experience with REST API design and development.
  • Background in back-end engineering.
  • Expertise in writing clean code.
  • Experience with unit testing and code coverage (TDD/BDD is a plus).
  • Knowledge of software development life cycles (e.g., Agile).
  • Ownership of project delivery.
  • Ability to adapt to new programming languages and technology frameworks as needed.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in energy, banking, or trading industries.
  • Proficiency in front-end development using React or Angular.
  • Experience with Python and/or PHP programming languages.
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL or T-SQL database management systems.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced teams (Scrum, Kanban).
