Life-Changing Disability Support Specialist

At Everyday Independence, we're on a mission to change the game for people with disability and make inclusion possible for all Australians. As a Developmental Educator, you'll be part of an interdisciplinary team, supported to become a highly effective social model therapist. You'll work to break down barriers for people with disabilities and ensure NDIS-funded participants achieve the best possible outcomes for a significantly improved quality of life.
Your Role as a Developmental EducatorYou'll provide person-centered support and planning for people with disabilities, their families and support teams. You'll build strong relationships to help them envision a life full of positive experiences and opportunities for people of all ages. Your expertise will include:
- Assisting individuals with disabilities in developing new skills and habits
- Championing the role of a social model practitioner by helping people overcome barriers that prevent them from engaging with their local community and the wider world
- Using evidence-based practice and professional reasoning to recommend the most appropriate team of supports, therapy, duration, location, and timing
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor or Masters of Disability (or equivalent) and eligibility to be a member of the DEAI
- The ability to submit a suitability assessment and obtain a Behaviour Support Practitioner certification by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
- Strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy
- Empathy and understanding, while being open and non-judgmental
- The drive to see high-impact outcomes in people's lives
