Urban Development Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an Urban Development Specialist. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge of urban planning in a practical setting and contribute to the delivery of high-quality outcomes across a diverse community.

  • This is an exceptional chance for a recent graduate or experienced planner to work closely with colleagues to support the development of urban spaces, ensuring they meet statutory requirements and community needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on urban development matters through Council's Duty Planner service.
  • Prepare assessment reports and determinations on development applications and subdivision certificates.
  • Undertake site inspections and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholder feedback on development projects.
  • Respond to enquiries at the customer service counter, via email, and by phone.

You will be required to work efficiently, meet statutory and Council timeframes, and contribute to the delivery of effective urban development services.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning (or nearing completion).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of relevant Acts, statutory planning processes, and customer service delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
