About the Opportunity

St Therese's School in Bentley Park is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Academic Support Assistant. This position plays a vital part in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and assistance required to achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess the learning needs of students under the supervision of classroom teachers.
  • Participate in meetings involving parents, teachers, and specialists to discuss student progress and needs.
  • Work closely with students according to lesson plans provided by class teachers.
  • Provide physical support to students when necessary.
  • Contribute to planning days with team teachers to discuss student needs.
  • Support students with social and emotional needs through supervising them during time-outs from the classroom and developing close relationships to serve as a contact person if needed.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment by adhering to individual classroom rules, expectations, incentive schemes, and behavior management plans as directed by classroom teachers.
  • Assist with in-class support programs as instructed by classroom teachers.
  • Report regularly to classroom teachers on student progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and direct parental inquiries concerning student progress to classroom teachers.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff in supervising students and addressing concerns or problems referred to teaching staff for resolution as required.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Working with Children Blue Card.
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
