Registered Nurse Role Overview

This is a nursing position that focuses on the health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 0–18 who are living in statutory care. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting their health and wellbeing.

The Out of Home Care Health Pathway Program (OOHC-HPP) is a dedicated team that provides trauma-informed, patient-centred care through health assessments, care planning, and coordination. You will work closely with a small, dedicated team to deliver high-quality care to these vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • To conduct thorough health assessments and develop care plans tailored to the individual needs of each child or young person.
  • To work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive support and guidance to children and young people, families and caregivers.
  • Assessing and managing health issues related to trauma, neglect, abuse, etc., and developing strategies for healing, growth, and thriving.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • A strong understanding of the Out of Home Care system and its requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and guidelines, such as Keep Them Safe policy and Health Assessment of Children and Young People in Out of Home Care Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Experience working with children, young people, or families, particularly those impacted by trauma, abuse, or neglect.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
