Mental Health Team Lead Position

Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our School, Student, and Family Program (SSFP) team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality mental health and well-being services to students, their families, and the school community.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in mental health, and a passion for supporting young people and families. You will bring an empathetic, solution-focused approach to your work and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
About the RoleIn this role, you will lead a team of dedicated school counsellors, ensuring the delivery of excellent support services for students, their families, and the school community. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of skilled counsellors and practitioners
- Overseeing the delivery of mental health and well-being services to ensure high standards and alignment with CatholicCare's values and mission
- Collaborating with school principals, stakeholders, and community partners to understand needs, promote services, and strengthen partnerships
- Conducting regular supervision, performance reviews, and professional development sessions with team members
- Managing case allocation, monitoring workloads, and providing guidance on complex cases as needed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Social Work, Social Science, Counselling, or Psychology
- Up-to-date knowledge and recent experience in the provision of Clinical Supervision
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a mental health, counselling, or social services setting
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with children, young people, and families, preferably within a school environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage, and delegate tasks effectively
CatholicCare Wollongong offers a competitive salary package, including:
- $90,000 - $110,000 per annum
