Commis Chef Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Commis Chef to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for cooking, baking, and pastry preparation as well as assisting with supervision of kitchen staff.

The ideal candidate will have competency in cooking and supervisory skills at the level of Commis Chef and high standards in food preparation, presentation, and service.

  • Assist with menu preparation and manage supplies
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
  • Coordinate with front of house staff regarding menu items and updates
  • Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of senior chefs
  • Ensure high presentation standards for all dishes
  • Manage food costs within specified margins
  • Follow FIFO policy and maintain cleanliness and equipment standards
  • Coordinate with stewarding team for cleanliness and equipment levels
  • Communicate effectively with staff and report issues to senior chefs
  • Support on-the-job training and development

In addition to your technical skills and experience, we are looking for someone who is a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Competency in cooking and supervisory skills at the level of Commis Chef
  • High standards in food preparation, presentation, and service
  • Current Food Safety training, refreshed annually
  • Participation in training programs as required
