Policy Specialist - Emergency Management

We are seeking an experienced Policy Specialist to join a high-impact national program focused on improving emergency management communications across Australia.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change, supporting emergency service personnel during critical incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA), including negotiating, analyzing, and drafting specific clauses.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and maintain project logs for tracking and resolution of issues.
  • Draft clear written materials, submissions, and briefs for executive and Ministerial audiences.
  • Assist in project coordination, including risk identification and management, and governance reporting.
Essential Criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development and implementation, including preparation of Cabinet submissions.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and complex documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Legal qualifications or experience in a legal policy setting.
  • Experience in Commonwealth-State relations and/or drafting legal agreements.

This role requires a Baseline Security Clearance and Australian Citizenship.
