Deputy Registrar and Executive Director

A senior leadership role focused on strategic vision, operational management, and continuous improvement of Student Services.

About the Opportunity

This position fosters student-centered service delivery, promotes innovative solutions, and ensures regulatory compliance. The Deputy Registrar and Executive Director will provide strategic direction, exercise delegated authority, and oversee a broad range of Registrar functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Student Services domain, aligning with Education Portfolio objectives.
  • Exercise delegated authority to make autonomous decisions, ensuring alignment across internal and external policies and practices.
  • Oversee a broad range of Registrar functions, consulting with the Academic Registrar as needed.
  • Lead process optimization for quality, efficiency, and student satisfaction, ensuring effective issue resolution and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with higher education regulations, standards, and governance frameworks, conducting internal audits and reviews as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners, representing the Academic Registrar in committees and working groups.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Student team, promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Oversee financial management within the work area, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and well-being, ensuring adherence to workplace health and safety policies.
RequirementsSkills
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and manage complex projects in a dynamic environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of higher education policies, regulations, and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and service excellence.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience
  • Extensive leadership experience in higher education administration, with a strong track record of managing student services at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience in exercising delegations of authority and making timely decisions in relation to student and administration matters within a complex regulatory environment.
  • Experience in business optimisation, transformation, and innovation within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven management experience at a senior level; together with flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments.

Estimated annual minimum salary: 150000, Estimated annual maximum salary: 180000, Currency: AUD.
