Job Description:

The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for setting the strategy for the organization's data architecture and providing technical architecture direction for delivery of the target state. The person appointed will be an integral member of the Enterprise Architecture Team and will be responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise-wide data strategy, ensuring the strategy supports the current and future business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Data Strategy: Documenting the detailed holistic physical data architecture for both current and target state, capturing the physical enterprise data model, and setting the strategy for data architecture to support the Business and IT strategies.
  • Lead Data Architecture Governance: Lead data architecture governance forums and provide subject matter expert input to architecture decisions.
  • Manage Architecture Change Initiatives: Manage holistic roadmap of architecture change initiatives across the bank, coordinating requirements across different initiatives.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise for change initiatives, working with solution architects, technical architects, and business product owners.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with IT and the Data Management Office to ensure requirements for data governance, quality, metadata management, mastering, and security are delivered.
  • Advocate for Data Security: Be an advocate of data security principles and ensure appropriate security practices are embedded in any data strategy.
  • Contribute to Data Governance: Be an active contributor to how the bank evolves Data Governance practices and influence the adoption of data standards.
  • Develop Key Performance Measures: Develop key performance measures for data integration and quality.
  • Support Third-Party Data Suppliers: Support third-party data suppliers in developing specifications that are congruent with the Enterprise data architecture.
  • Drive Consistent Standards: Drive consistent standards and approaches throughout the team, building an environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Extensive Experience: Extensive experience of developing progressive information management solutions and end-to-end development life-cycle support and SDLC processes.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience of leading a team including architects and subject matter experts.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of industry best practices around data architecture in both cloud-based and on-prem solutions.
  • Data Warehousing Experience: A comprehensive understanding of data warehousing and data transformation (extract, transform, and load) processes and the supporting technologies such as Amazon Glue, EMR, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and other analytics products.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving and data modeling skills (logical, physical, semantic, and integration models) including normalization, OLAP/OLTP principles, and entity relationship analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentational skills, confident and methodical approach, and able to work within a team environment.
