Job Summary

We seek an exceptional Employee Relations Service Manager to lead our team and drive service improvement initiatives in human resources and industrial relations advisory services. This is a unique opportunity to work across both State and Federal systems, providing expert guidance and support to our Local Government clients.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a reputation as a resilient team player, with depth in leading through change and developing innovative solutions. They will possess exceptional communication skills and be able to provide advice to Councils regarding CEO employment and manage sensitive enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice on emerging legislative issues and oversee the provision of verbal and/or written advice to members.
  • Respond to consultancy service needs, prepare cost estimates, and respond to request documents within the scope of the ER service.
  • Lead and oversee sector ER advocacy projects and provide feedback to Government departments and Ministers on draft legislation and IR policy.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality training courses and deliver training sessions to members.
  • Manage all aspects of service provision for Northern Territory clients and liaise with other Local Government Associations on employee relations matters.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of HR/IR professionals delivering advice and support within an organisation or in a service delivery capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the State and Federal industrial relations systems, including representation of client matters in industrial jurisdictions.
  • Advanced knowledge and sound understanding of industrial instruments and how they operate, and experience negotiating enterprise/industrial agreements.
  • Sound understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA), Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 (WA), anti-discrimination legislation, and other employment legislation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, human resources, law, or a related field.
