
Duty Medical Officer – Making a Meaningful Difference in Rural Healthcare

Job OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Duty Medical Officer to join our clinical team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing and managing patients across our Urgent Care Centre, Acute Ward, and Residential Aged Care Facilities.
In this dynamic position, you will have the opportunity to work independently as a solo practitioner with robust referral pathways to larger regional health services. You will also have the chance to lead a dedicated team of multidisciplinary professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage patients with acute and urgent medical conditions
- Provide high-quality patient care that is respectful and compassionate
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safe patient care practices
- Provide accurate and timely documentation, handovers, and discharge summaries
- Undertake on-call requirements as needed
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent) recognized by the Australian Medical Council
- General Registration with APHRA
- Successful completion of Australian Medical Council (AMC) Part 1 and Part 2 Exams
- Clinical experience of 5 years or more in general acute and/or emergency medicine
- Fellowship with ACEM, RACGP, or RACP
- Experience working in a rural or regional healthcare setting
- Previous clinical experience in the Australian healthcare system
