About the RoleThis dynamic position offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team of healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional care to our local community. As a Duty Medical Officer, you will be responsible for assessing and managing patients across Acute and Urgent Care emergency, providing urgent medical assistance to residential aged care as required, and applying evidence-based clinical practice in planning and delivering treatment.
- Assess and manage patients across Acute and Urgent Care emergency
- Provide urgent medical assistance to residential aged care as required
- Apply evidence-based clinical practice in planning and delivering treatment
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement, teaching, and safe patient care
- Provide accurate and timely documentation, handovers, and discharge summaries
- Undertake on-call requirements (for predominantly Triage Categories 1-3, Categories 4-5 are nursing led and assisted by VVED)
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent), recognised by the Australian Medical Council
- General Registration with APHRA
- Successful completion of Australian Medical Council (AMC) Part 1 and Part 2 Exams
- Clinical experience of 5 years or more in general acute and/or emergency medicine
- Fellowship with ACEM, RACGP, or RACP
- Experience working in a rural or regional healthcare setting
- Previous clinical experience in the Australian healthcare system
