Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Data Governance Associate to join our Asset Servicing Data Governance Team at 023 Northern Trust Company Australia.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional business line teams to develop and implement data governance frameworks, ensuring accurate, secure, and compliant data assets. You will work closely with the Global Head of Data Governance to identify and support data governance initiatives, establish data management best practices, and contribute to the creation of data policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, mature knowledge, and a keen interest in data governance, data management, and a desire to grow their expertise in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Hiring Requirements

  • Develop tools and processes for maintaining consistent data standards across the organization.
  • Assess, manage, and maintain strategies that reduce data redundancy and improve data consistency and confidence for informed decision-making.
  • Define and deliver data management standards, processes, and controls, including common data dictionaries.
  • Participate in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with data governance policies (compliance assessments, monitoring, and control testing).
  • Resolve conflicting priorities among data owners, consumers, and custodians within the domain's sphere of influence.
  • Drive efficiency and risk mitigation by balancing business value and cost through collaboration with data owners and consumers to deliver an efficient operating model and data architecture.
  • Collaborate with partners across the organization to maintain data governance and quality structures, meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk, and cost.
  • Coordinate and implement data quality remediation efforts to ensure data meets enterprise-identified standards.
  • Demonstrate functional expertise with technical and/or business knowledge.
  • Carry out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and ambiguous issues.
  • Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment encouraging employee participation, teamwork, and communication.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong experience with data governance tooling, preferably Collibra.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services sector and understanding of how different business lines interact.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey the role of data governance to both business and technical communities.
  • Possess broad knowledge of the domain data and understand key business drivers influencing data entry, modification, management, and consumption.
  • Experience with defining and implementing data quality management.
