About the Role

The Independent Commission Against Corruption NSW is seeking an experienced Executive Director of Investigations to lead the Investigation Division in delivering the Commission's obligation to investigate and expose corrupt conduct in the NSW public sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Investigation Division in delivering the Commission's obligation to investigate and expose corrupt conduct in the NSW public sector.
  • Provide strategic, policy, and operational advice to the Commissioners, Chief Executive Officer, and the Commission.
  • Implement the investigation and exposure objectives of the Commission through the use of conventional, covert, and coercive investigation strategies.
  • Manage a large team across various disciplines in the conduct of complex investigations into alleged serious offences and/or public sector misconduct.
  • Develop and implement effective investigation strategies and methodologies.
  • Provide guidance and support to investigators and other staff members.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to achieve the Commission's objectives.

Requirements

  • Superior leadership, decision-making attributes, and skills.
  • Extensive experience in managing a large team across various disciplines in the conduct of complex investigations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement and administrative investigation processes and methodologies.
  • A good understanding of the criminal law, the rules of evidence, and criminal procedures.
  • Well-developed strategic planning and organisational abilities, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write well and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, occupations, and seniority.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in management or a related discipline and/or extensive equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance at Negative Vetting 1.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption NSW was established in 1988 as an independent organisation to protect the public interest, prevent breaches of public trust, and guide the conduct of public officials in the NSW public sector.
