The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Developer to join our team. As a key member of our project development team, you will be responsible for growing, maintaining, and overseeing the development of a portfolio of renewable energy projects from site identification to early-stage planning processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Manage and lead the day-to-day work of project developers, providing motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for development.
  • Project Development: Oversee and be hands-on in the development of renewable energy generation and storage projects, supporting prospecting teams, providing advice, reviewing project plans, budgets, and risk assessments, and assisting in liaising with clients or regulators as required.
  • Project Planning and Budgeting: Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and risk management, utilizing your understanding of the development process.
  • Stakeholder Management: Originate and oversee the compilation of site data, including topographic and cadastral data, site constraints, property schedule, residence matrix, and stakeholder management plan.
  • Landowner and Stakeholder Engagement: Originate consultation with landowners, negotiation of landowner agreements, legal dealings, and other correspondence as required, and maintain a continued role throughout the development process.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Originate the stakeholder consultation process with local and/or State planning authorities, other regulators, general public, landowners, and other stakeholders, and maintain a continued role throughout the development process.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Support the production of Environmental Impact Statement documents, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation referrals, and any other statutory applications required for project development.
  • Site Visits and Monitoring: Conduct site visits to consult with project stakeholders, assist in on-site studies, inspect monitoring equipment, and escort clients and contractors around sites.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continual improvement of internal processes, including but not limited to maintenance and currency of development work instructions.
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train other members of the development team in aspects of development.
Requirements
  • Leadership and Management: Demonstrated excellence in team leadership and management with a proven track record of guiding and developing high-performing teams.
  • Land Contract Negotiation: Extensive and hands-on experience in managing land contract negotiations with a strong focus on achieving optimal outcomes and mitigating risks.
  • Renewable Energy Experience: Extensive relevant work experience in a similar position working in the renewable energy sector is preferred.
  • Infrastructure Development: Development experience within complex infrastructure projects, including transmission, road, rail, pipelines, will be well regarded.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Proven ability to negotiate contracts for procurement, professional services, and landholder.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Change Management: A willingness to create change, support the communities in which we operate, and deliver on our investment objectives.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, including liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Travel and Mobility: Ability to undertake extensive domestic travel to project locations in rural and regional Australia.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary Qualification: A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Planning, Property, or Engineering is preferred.
  • Driver's License: A current driver's license.
