Job Overview

The role of a Community Recovery Officer involves working with local councils to coordinate and support community activities before, during and after a disaster event.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for community recovery, collaborating with key agencies and stakeholders to build resilience and capacity.

This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, as well as excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community recovery strategic and operational plans.
  • Lead on the development and maintenance of community preparedness and response capability and capacity.
  • Partner with communities and local services to plan and implement human and social recovery responses.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to senior leaders in the management and delivery of community recovery services.
  • Analyse disaster events and provide briefings and reports to inform matters of concern and identify service gaps.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of an annual district operational work plan.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of Queensland's disaster management system is required.
  • Experience in community building, resilience planning and disaster recovery.
  • Able to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.
