Community Recovery Leader

The role of the Community Recovery Leader is pivotal in coordinating and supporting local activities with key partner agencies. This involves preparation for, response to, and recovery following a disaster event or crisis within their designated area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To develop and implement strategic and operational plans that cater to community recovery.
  • To collaborate on enhancing community preparedness and response capability through the development and maintenance of comprehensive strategies.
  • Representing the department at various levels, partnering with communities and local services to plan and execute human and social recovery initiatives and disaster management responses.
  • Providing strategic advice and support to Senior Leaders in managing and delivering community recovery services in response to disasters, crises, and incidents.
  • Regular review and modification of established practices, processes, and policies to boost preparedness and response efficiency during disaster events.
  • Analyzing disaster events to provide briefings and reports to internal partners and external organizations to inform decision-making and identify service gaps.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of an annual district operational work plan with key disaster management stakeholders.
  • Integrating and coordinating internal business processes related to human and social recovery activities through effective governance systems and strengthened business practices.
About You
  • A current open driver's license is essential for travel requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Queensland's disaster management system is required.
  • Experience in community building, resilience planning, and disaster recovery is necessary.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship-building are essential.
