Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Development Team Leader to join our team at Moira Shire Council. As a key member of our Community Wellbeing portfolio, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing community development activities across the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Development: Develop and support a range of community development activities across the district, including community projects and events, arts and culture programs, and cultural initiatives.
  • Community Leadership Program: Oversee the successful delivery of the Community Leadership Program, including program development, coordination, and facilitation.
  • Community Grants Program: Assist with the community grants program, including assessment of applications and grant management.
  • Cultural Programs and Activities: Develop and support the delivery of cultural programs and activities, including First Nations engagement initiatives and activities.
  • Arts and Culture Programs: Identify and develop opportunities for arts and culture programs and community events across Moira Shire, in accordance with approved strategies and programs.
  • Volunteer Recognition and Development: Recognize, upskill, and celebrate volunteers across the Moira Shire.
  • Local Safety Committee: Support the coordination and facilitation of the Local Safety Committee.
  • Community Capacity Building: Work closely with internal departments, including Economic, Tourism and Recreation, and Communication and Engagement teams, to build community capacity.
  • Community Priorities: Assist in identifying and implementing community priorities.
  • Research and Reporting: Research and prepare relevant submissions and grant applications, and prepare written reports, correspondence, and other administrative tasks.
Requirements
  • Relevant Qualifications and Experience: Relevant qualifications and experience in community development or a related field, including demonstrated understanding of community development framework and community engagement principles.
  • Strategic Advice: Proven capacity to provide strategic advice to community and Council staff, ensuring the successful delivery of service agreements and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Arts and Culture Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the arts and culture industry functions within a regional context.
  • Project and Event Management: Demonstrated experience in project and event management, risk mitigation, and facilitating community consultations.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Well-developed communication skills, including group facilitation, interpersonal, report writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Grants, Budgeting, and Procurement: Familiarity with grants, budgeting, and procurement processes.
