About the Role

The Team Leader - Community Housing will lead the team at Southern Cross Housing in supporting our tenants and ensuring that the portfolio of homes is appropriately managed in line with the Community Housing Framework. Southern Cross Housing is a tier 2 provider, with the majority of our tenants being over 55's in the metro area, and this role is key in ensuring ongoing tenant satisfaction and compliance with the performance outcomes of the framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team of Housing Officers and Administrators in delivering high-quality services to tenants.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive decision-making and operations in a supportive landlord model.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that homes are properly maintained and meet the needs of tenants.
  • Chair the quarterly Tenant Advisory Committee meetings to ensure tenant engagement and feedback.
  • Manage tenant and community engagement obligations, including developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Assist the Housing Officers in conducting property inspections every 6 months to ensure compliance with the Community Housing Framework.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Shelter WA, the Department, and other providers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Property Officer to manage the budget for Southern Cross Housing.

About You

This person would have demonstrated leadership attributes and interpersonal skills that align with our values and can inspire others. Previous experience in a similar role is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • At least four years' experience in a similar position.
  • Property Management Qualifications (REIWA) or equivalent qualification is desirable or prepared to undertake.
  • Community Housing experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and understanding of relevant tenant and property management data systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent presentation and a positive, friendly, and flexible attitude.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook.
  • Current driver's license.
