About the Role

Western Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Forensic Specialist to join our Mental Health team. This role plays a vital part in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with severe mental illness who are at risk of violence or aggression.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Assess, treat, and support people with complex mental health needs in forensic settings.">
  • Develop and maintain optimal clinical pathways and relationships between services.">
  • Provide expert advice on referral and assessment pathways, treatment options, and risk management strategies.">
  • Liaise with Area Mental Health Services, court corrections, prison, and Forensicare services to ensure seamless coordination of care.">
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to forensic mental health care.">
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to clients.">

Requirements

">
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, nursing) with extensive experience in public mental health settings.">
  • Highly developed risk assessment and management skills, including report writing.">
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.">
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.">
  • Knowledge of legislation and policies related to forensic mental health care.">
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in forensic mental health care.">
