Sydney is a major hub for Investment Banking, with many global institutions having a presence in the city. A leading investment bank with over 550 staff in Australia is seeking an entry-level recent university graduate to join their team as a Payroll Officer on an initial 12-month contract.

The role will involve being trained up by senior team members to be able to run the end-to-end monthly payrun across multiple entities, in addition to off-cycle payruns where necessary. Advanced Excel skills are required, with experience in VLookups and Pivot Tables preferred.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and updating payroll databases
  • Ensuring employees' records are up to date
  • Leave management in WorkDay and iChris
  • Preparing termination calculations
  • End-of-month reporting and remitting payment to third-party vendors
  • Lodging and paying superannuation, withholding tax, and payroll tax to all authorities
  • Managing group payroll email inbox and responding to queries within 48 hours
  • Setting up timesheets for employees
  • Assisting in year-end reconciliations
  • Partnering with Payroll Controllers, HR Business Partners, and BU to ensure all pay-related matters are attended to promptly and accurately

The ideal candidate will have recently graduated with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, and possess advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office. Up to 12 months of prior experience in accounts or payroll is highly regarded but not essential.

A competitive salary package, including a base salary estimated to be around $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, is on offer to successful candidates.
