Family Support Worker Job Opportunity

The Salvation Army is seeking a compassionate and skilled professional to fill the role of Family Support Worker.

About The Role:

This position involves providing effective contribution within a transdisciplinary team to facilitate and evolve the delivery of services for families and children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan and facilitate service wrap-around activities/programs in consultations with families, internal and external partnerships and team.
  • Support operations of The Family Place including contributing to team cohesiveness and goals, brokering partnerships, both internally and externally, and maintenance of relationships with internal and external stakeholders, WH&S, reporting and data collection activities and supporting operational coordination.
  • Build rapport and develop trust with families and children, team members, internal and external partnerships.
  • Contribute to internal/external program delivery, events, and program development, which includes consultation with families, partnerships with internal and external organisations for responsive wrap-around service provision to ensure best outcomes for families.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification or extensive experience in Community/Human/Social Services, Counselling/Psychology or other related field.
  • Passion and drive for working with families with children from a social justice framework in early prevention and support.
  • Experience in the social/human services sector working with children and families.
  • Program development, planning and delivery.
  • Experience in working with individuals, families and groups to deliver support through a psychoeducational therapeutic lens.
  • Strong practice based on theory, experience and critical reflection.
  • Experience working with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing strategic partnerships and relationship management.
  • Knowledge and experience in community engagement and consultation with families with children and children.
  • A current Working with Children (Bluecard).
  • Current Driver's License.
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
