About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Scientist to join our vibrant and engaged team at Healius. As a key member of our Haematology department, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and organizing the department's training, education, and continuing professional development to ensure the haematology team's success.
  • Reviewing haematology internal quality control and external quality assurance performance to maintain successful NATA accreditation of our core laboratory.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting technical issues and completing internal audits.
  • Managing equipment and method validation/verification.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

  • Extensive experience and theoretical knowledge in haematology, including flow cytometry, morphology, specialist coagulation, and Hb Electrophoresis.
  • Sound knowledge of reviewing haematology end of month internal quality control and external quality assurance performance would be highly desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Good understanding of ISO15189, NPAAC, and CLSI guidelines.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision.
  • Motivation and ability to 'think outside of the box.'
  • Time management skills together with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound judgments.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the desire to contribute to a strong team environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to triage workload and attend to multiple tasks.
  • Safety in performing routine and technical tasks using manual tasks and automated equipment.

Qualifications

As a minimum, it is a requirement for applicants to hold the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Medical Science or equivalent from an Australian Tertiary institution or recognized equivalent.
  • Overseas qualifications – qualifications must be assessed by AIMS and deemed as holding professional membership.
