About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Scientist who will be responsible for:
- Supervising and organizing the department's training, education, and ongoing support to the haematology team
- Reviewing haematology internal quality control and external quality assurance performance to maintain successful accreditation of our core laboratory
- Assisting in troubleshooting technical issues
- Completing internal audits
- Managing equipment and method validation/verification
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Extensive experience and theoretical knowledge in haematology, including flow cytometry, morphology, specialist coagulation, and Hb Electrophoresis
- Sound knowledge of reviewing haematology end of month internal quality control and external quality assurance performance
- Sound knowledge of statistical analysis
- Good understanding of ISO15189, NPAAC, and CLSI guidelines
- Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
- The motivation and ability to 'think outside of the box'
- Time management skills together with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound judgments
- Excellent communications skills
- A collaborative approach and the desire to contribute to a strong team environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to triage workload and attend to multiple tasks
- Safety in performing routine and technical tasks using manual tasks and automated equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medical Science or equivalent from an Australian Tertiary institution or recognized equivalent
- Overseas qualifications – qualifications must be assessed by AIMS and deemed as holding professional membership
