About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scientist to join our team at Healius, a leading healthcare company in Australia. As a Medical Scientist, you will play a critical role in providing a quality genetic testing service to our clients and practicing within the philosophy of Healius.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform genetic testing procedures and result analysis in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements, internal protocols, and clinical guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively as part of the analytical team and wider Genomic Diagnostics team, contributing to internal and external quality control and equipment maintenance activities.
  • Report all instruments, consumables, reagents, and laboratory-related issues to the relevant team leader or Chief Scientist, and manage time effectively to ensure a balanced workload vs output ratio for the team.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with Healius privacy policy and participate in research and development of new tests, implementation of new instrumentation and procedures, or revision of existing procedures.
  • Meet and exceed WH&S standards and requirements, reporting all incidents/non-conformances at the time of occurrence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science or equivalent qualification recognised by professional bodies such as AIMS, ASM, AACB.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills within the respective discipline, with knowledge of the Ultra (Triple G) computer system being an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting, with the ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures, with self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and accuracy.
