The Central Australian Women's Legal Service is seeking a dedicated and skilled lawyer to fill a newly created hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters
  • Represent clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyer
  • Deliver legal support to women who have been criminalised, particularly those impacted by domestic and family violence and systemic disadvantage
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver wraparound services
  • Undertake outreach travel to remote communities and courts
  • Assist with logistics and delivery of community legal education and outreach events
  • Support and contribute to law reform, advocacy and community legal education
  • Participate in stakeholder and community engagement
  • Maintain legal files, compliance and reporting for regulatory obligations
About You

To be eligible for this role, you will need to hold a Bachelor of Laws degree and be eligible for a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory. Experience in civil or criminal law is essential, and an understanding of domestic and family violence and trauma-informed practice will be highly regarded.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work across both civil and criminal legal matters, providing holistic and trauma-informed legal assistance to vulnerable women in regional and remote areas.
