About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Specialist to join our client's procurement team in Tasmania. As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective category management plans that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand medium to long-term business needs and develop impactful category management plans.
  • Analyze market trends and build valuable market intelligence to support sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate with the strategic sourcing team to ensure category requirements align with both immediate objectives and long-term goals.
  • Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and proactively address challenges to maintain strong relationships.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement and innovation across sourcing categories, maximizing value throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategic category management plans that align with the organization's vision.
  • Nurture strong partnerships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration to achieve shared goals.
  • Conduct thorough market analyses to inform risk management strategies, ensuring alignment with broader procurement objectives.
  • Manage supplier relationships according to contractual agreements, promoting mutual success and transparency.
  • Facilitate supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms that support strategic direction.
  • Analyze procurement data and market trends to uncover insights that enhance category management strategies, preparing engaging reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and cost efficiencies within the sourcing category, contributing to a high-performing, customer-centric team focused on our strategic goals.

Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in a procurement/contracts role.
  • Tertiary qualification in business management, supply chain management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing a procurement function or improving existing procurement practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

What We Offer:

A competitive salary package AUD $130,000 - $150,000 (inclusive of superannuation).
