Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Palliative Care Nurse Specialist to join our team at Austin Health. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of patients and families, providing specialist palliative care in various settings, including inpatient units, clinics, and community-based programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist palliative care to patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
  • Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and interventions in various settings, including hospitals and community locations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referring physicians, other healthcare professionals, and community partners
  • Mentor and educate staff on palliative care principles and practices
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • A postgraduate qualification in palliative care nursing or a related field
  • Significant experience in palliative care, preferably in a senior nursing role
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care and a passion for working collaboratively with others
