Senior Retail Operations Director

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Retail Operations Director to lead our team and drive business growth.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will provide over-arching leadership of our retail operations, ensuring decision-making is made with honesty, integrity, ethics, and respect at the forefront. You will be accountable for the day-to-day management of our retail operations, including stores, merchandise, production, marketing, people management, and expense management, all to maximise sales and profitability.
Responsibilities- To contribute to and deliver on a cohesive company strategy and vision, ensuring its clearly communicated and articulated in a precise and engaging way to all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring ongoing alignment.
- To drive the business development and expansion strategies to continue to strengthen our market position.
- To directly oversee your senior team across all functions of the business, keeping them aligned to the company strategy and providing them with leadership and development opportunities.
- To act as the custodian of the culture and heartbeat of the organisation, ensuring we remain an employer of choice.
We are looking for someone with proven General Manager level experience in a 'like for like' role within a small to medium retail organisation. Alternatively, candidates with GM/senior level experience of a retail function, as well as experience across other multiple organisational functions, will also be considered.
A strong sense of style, an eye for product, and a senior retail leader who is effortlessly 'on trend' is essential. Additionally, you will have a deep passion for retail, product, sales, service, people, and delivering sustainable results. You must know how to translate a 'vision' into day-to-day retail operational excellence and achieve results that are sustainable for the long term.
You will also have a customer-centric mentality and a retailer at heart, with unquestionable passion for retail and a high level of interest to visit stores regularly to ensure you are fully aware of the heart and pulse of the business. You inherently believe that customers come first every time and a retail business exists to create 'customers for life'. An understanding of the nuances of a family business is also important.
A leadership style that naturally listens, learns, and builds relationships is required. You must be pragmatic and measured in your approach to decision-making and advice-giving. Sound business acumen and experience managing significant P&L's is necessary, as well as exposure to market influences and knowledge of demographics, competitor activity, and environmental factors.
An authentic, calm, humble, and down-to-earth individual who is comfortable getting their hands dirty, as well as performing at strategic and high-level business and relationship management aspects of the role, is ideal. You must inspire confidence, be incredibly commercial, have endless drive, determination, resilience, persistence, and commitment, and always be 'in it for the team.'
