About the Role

Saint Ignatius' College Riverview is a leading independent school in the Jesuit tradition, delivering a holistic education for day and boarding students from Years 5 to 12.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Academic Support Specialist to join our team in 2025, covering a staff member on maternity leave. The position is 0.8 FTE for 2025, and you will be responsible for the academic support needs of students across Stage 5 at the College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support to students across Stage 5, ensuring they receive a rich and rewarding educational experience.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students with additional learning needs, promoting inclusivity and equity in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum programs, ensuring alignment with the College's Mission and Values.
  • Contribute to the Co-curriculum Program at the College, enhancing the overall educational experience for students.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, parents, and staff, ensuring effective communication and a commitment to student success.
Requirements
  • Hold the appropriate teaching qualifications and be eligible to teach in NSW.
  • Be an outstanding classroom teacher, preferably with a background in the teaching of English or the Humanities.
  • Hold postgraduate qualifications in the field of inclusive/special education (desirable).
  • Have experience working with students who have additional learning needs in a secondary setting (desirable).
  • Demonstrate collaborative practices and a commitment to working as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the Mission and Values of the College.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check.
