We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a First Nations Health Services Specialist.
The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that works together to improve the delivery of care to First Nations people.
About the Role:- Assess, plan, provide, and coordinate care for First Nations patients and consumers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Aboriginal community, organisations, and service providers.
- Perform culturally safe interventions and procedures, adhering to Indigenous best practice and hospital policies.
- Support nurses in performing culturally safe interventions and procedures.
- Provide high-quality patient-focused care to First Nations patients and their carers as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Establish strong internal networks and relationships to improve care delivery for First Nations cancer patients within and external to the organisation.
- You must have a sound knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, society, and kinship networks.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing First Nations health services in a mainstream healthcare setting, primary care, or welfare sectors.
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to establish and maintain strong links across the acute healthcare sector and community providers.
- A deep understanding of state and local First Nations health issues and initiatives.
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (or equivalent) or willingness to attain relevant qualifications.
