Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced First Nations Mental Health Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of culturally informed services that enhance the overall mental health of our First Nations communities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide short-term counselling services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, delivering culturally sensitive support to meet their unique needs.
  • Offer guidance to organisations on improving workplace mental health and well-being, drawing on your expertise in cultural competency.
  • Facilitate group sessions and training on mental health, well-being, and cultural awareness, promoting a deeper understanding of these critical issues.
  • Assist in designing and delivering educational training packages for clients, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and access peer consultation and external supervision to ensure the highest standard of care.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in providing mental health and well-being support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, with a strong understanding of the cultural, historical, familial, and societal factors influencing mental health in First Nations communities.
  • Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work, with professional registration with a relevant health professional body.
  • Minimum of three years of counselling experience, with a focus on managing clinical risk and client presentations effectively.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving environment, prioritising client well-being and demonstrating a passion for delivering culturally informed mental health services.
