Senior Docking Operations Manager

Job Description:

The Senior Docking Operations Manager will play a vital role in the Defence Marine Support Services Contract, overseeing dockings and managing subcontractors. This is a senior position that requires expertise in shipwright operations and project management.

The successful candidate will have extensive maritime experience, including at least three years in a senior or leadership role, and be familiar with RAN operations and asset maintenance practices.

This position involves managing docking projects from scope development through to execution, applying shipwright expertise to vessel maintenance and repair projects, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing docking projects from scope development to execution

  • Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations
  • Leading warranty processes and overseeing quality assurance documentation
  • Supporting engineering investigations and liaising with vessel crews
  • Directing schedule management and cost control for dockings
  • Approving invoice claims and ensuring administrative accuracy in asset systems

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum Certificate III Trade qualification (Shipwright or related) and relevant licences, such as Driver's and Forklift licenses. They should also have demonstrated experience in shipwright, vessel docking, or marine trades, and be competent in MS Office and Asset Management Systems.
