Key Role Summary:

The purpose of this role is to deliver exceptional, friendly and culturally sensitive services to staff, clients and visitors under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Coordinate a busy switchboard and reception area.
  • Be the first point of contact for our clients and their families, stakeholders and all other visitors to our office.

Opportunities exist to develop networks within and outside the organisation to assist in the efficient delivery of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide a friendly, culturally competent service at Reception using a multi-line phone system.
  2. Complete multiple tasks thoroughly.
  3. Initiate tasks and prioritise competing responsibilities.
  4. Deal with clients, visitors, service providers, incoming and outgoing calls, mail, ordering and monitoring supplies and phone use.
  5. Arrange repairs and cleaning services.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Alignment to the values and vision of ATSILS and an appreciation of and sensitivity to the challenges our clients have faced, and continue to face, in their fight for and their right to justice and equity.
  2. Certificate III in Business/Customer Service or equivalent is essential.
  3. Two-three years' full-time experience working in a professional services office environment as a Receptionist or Client Services Officer is essential.
  4. Experience in providing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families is highly regarded.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Current First Aid Certificate, Workplace Health and Safety Representative training or Emergency Services qualifications.
  2. Database entry and reporting skills are highly regarded.
  3. Qualifications in Business Administration, Information Technology, Communications, Justice, Advocacy, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community Development, or current enrolment in any of these tertiary courses.
  4. Experience in an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander service.
