About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Senior Financial Crimes Investigator in Sydney.

As a key member of our compliance team, you will play a critical role in protecting our company and its customers from financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations into alerts generated by our monitoring systems and operational teams, identifying potential financial crimes and taking appropriate action.
  • Support the optimisation of our Financial Crimes detection systems by reviewing rules, analysing trends, and profiling customers and threats.
  • Monitor and report on volume and quality metrics to ensure our detection systems are effective.
  • Work closely with external partners and consortiums to stay up-to-date on the latest financial crime trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to design and implement changes to processes and procedures to enhance our financial crime prevention capabilities.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in financial crimes case investigations, covering both fraud and AML typologies, preferably within the financial sector.
  • Experience with drafting and submitting Suspicious Matter Reports is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of current Risk, Anti-Fraud, and Anti-Money Laundering obligations and frameworks is essential.
  • Familiarity with red flags, criminal typologies, and trends is necessary for success in this role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex cases and clearly articulate findings.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritising tasks and managing resources to meet business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information.
  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail are required, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
