Role Overview

The Cafe & Catering Attendant will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our café and catering services, ensuring exceptional food and beverage experiences for all customers. This role involves assisting with food preparation, operating POS systems, maintaining cleanliness, and providing top-notch customer service, as well as supporting the Chef as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries and resolving complaints efficiently.
  • Maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the café and during catering events.
  • Serve customers promptly and courteously, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Food & Beverage Preparation and Service

  • Prepare and heat café food, as well as make hot beverages for our café.
  • Assist in food preparation and beverage service for catering events.
  • Ensure all food and beverage preparation processes adhere to strict food hygiene standards.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment, including coffee machines and toasters, ensuring cleanliness and efficiency.

Operations Support

  • Assist in delivering catering services to meeting rooms, washing dishes, and preparing food, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned and handled.
  • Support the café team during peak hours by taking orders, handling EFTPOS transactions, and restocking supplies using the FIFO rule.
  • Support the Concierge and Oracle teams when needed, assisting with guest inquiries, supporting key meetings, and providing general customer service to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Cleanliness and Safety

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the café and catering areas, including dining spaces, kitchens, and storage areas.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and customers.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support the Concierge and Oracle teams as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience & Capabilities

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience in a café, restaurant, corporate boardroom, or catering environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with operating point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Critical Knowledge

  • Good coffee techniques and basic skills in café food preparation.
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Understanding of various food and beverage items, including dietary restrictions and allergens.

Capabilities

  • Strong customer service skills with a positive and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
