The Role

The primary purpose of the Controls and Performance Manager role is to develop best practice and innovative solutions in support of the Home Claims strategy and Finance objectives. This involves planning, reporting, and modeling to drive business growth and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management
    • Contribute to the development, review, and execution of the Home Claims Division's strategy, objectives, and operational plans.
    • Deliver performance outcomes relative to the objectives and within the Company's frameworks for the continual monitoring, measurement, and improvement of performance, productivity, and quality.
    • Contribute to the delivery of sustainable financial performance through prudent management of the approved budget, consistent with the Company's risk appetite.
    • Contribute to service delivery through the optimization of available resources based on effective capacity planning and strategic commercial management of suppliers and partners.
    • Support the implementation of formal and informal systems across the Division for the management of communication and key stakeholder relationships.
    • Fully implement the Company's risk management, governance, compliance, and accountability frameworks across all activities.
    • Continually support and strengthen the Auto & General brand and culture by personally modeling high standards of performance, positively influencing teams and individuals, negotiating and resolving conflict, and articulating and cascading the Company vision and objectives.
  • Job Specific
    • Develop systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective monitoring and management of the Home Claims division's performance with an emphasis on regular, detailed, and robust forecasting and reporting activities.
    • Consolidate and analyze business unit expenditure versus budget and undertake re-forecasts where necessary.
    • Run all applicable monthly financial reporting highlighting any risk areas, opportunities, and trends and provide recommendations for innovative improvements to improve the Company's financial performance and controls.
    • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Other
    • Maintain awareness, understanding, and compliance with Company policies and procedures, including the completion of mandatory training.
    • Perform other reasonable and relevant activities as requested from time to time to meet operational requirements.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in general claims management.
  • Strong experience managing and maintaining financial systems, running targeted and ad-hoc reporting, and providing insightful forecasting to the Company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the development of board papers and reporting.
  • Strong analytical ability and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, engage, and develop others.
  • Specific experience in the Banking, Finance & Insurance and/or Technology industry, and associated understanding and knowledge of the regulatory and commercial requirements.
