About the Role

Stamford Plaza Melbourne, a five-star hotel located in the heart of Melbourne's shopping and theatre district, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to join our maintenance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our 308-suite hotel.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee and manage all aspects of property maintenance and improvements, working closely with the Chief Engineer and General Manager on refurbishment projects.
  2. Lead your team to plan and execute preventative maintenance and general repairs, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
  3. Prepare and submit capital expenditure proposals and manage capex projects.
  4. Liaise with other departments to minimize the impact of repairs and maintenance on hotel operations.
  5. Train and develop your team members, sharing your expertise to enhance their skills.
  6. Coordinate with external contractors, obtaining quotes, raising purchase orders, and ensuring work is completed on time and in accordance with hotel safety standards.
  7. Design and implement solutions to improve energy management and conservation.
  8. Prepare monthly maintenance reports and participate in the implementation and adherence to all Work Health & Safety policies and practices.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Maintenance Manager or at least 5 years as a Building/Facilities Manager.
  • Trade qualification(s) are essential.
  • Tertiary qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a large-scale hotel Engineering department is desirable.
  • Strong management and teamwork capabilities.
  • Previous experience with a Property Management System (PMS) and Opera is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High level of communication skills.
