
Senior Research Scientist in Ultrafast Metamaterials

This is an opportunity to join a team of researchers in the study of ultrafast light-matter interactions in graphene metamaterials.
The successful candidate will work with Professor Michael Fuhrer and Professor Stefan Maier using ultrafast laser spectroscopy to understand the mechanisms of light absorption and thermalization in graphene metamaterials.
The researcher will be part of a team designing and simulating graphene metamaterials for strong light-matter interactions, fabricating structures at the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication, and measuring their optical and electrical properties.
A PhD in Physics, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Research experience in ultrafast science is essential. Experience in at least one of the following areas would be highly regarded: (i) metamaterials design and/or fabrication, (ii) graphene and/or other 2D materials fabrication and measurement, and/or (iii) electronic and/or optoelectronic device measurements.
