Senior Research Scientist

This research position offers a unique chance to explore ultrafast light-matter interactions in graphene metamaterials. The selected candidate will collaborate with leading experts to develop efficient thermoradiative devices for energy harvesting from the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize ultrafast laser spectroscopy techniques to study mechanisms of light absorption and thermalization in graphene metamaterials under the guidance of Professor Michael Fuhrer FAA and Professor Stefan Maier (Head of School).
- Work closely with researchers to design, simulate, fabricate, and measure graphene metamaterial structures at the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication, focusing on strong light-matter interactions in the mid-infrared range.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A PhD in Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related field is essential.
- Research experience in ultrafast science is mandatory. Experience in metamaterials design and/or fabrication, graphene and/or other 2D materials measurement, and/or electronic and/or optoelectronic device measurements is highly valued.
