Job Overview

The Port of Townsville is seeking an exceptional Environmental Technician to support its Climate & Environment business unit in minimising emissions and potential impacts on the environment.

This role involves conducting field work, maintaining environmental monitoring equipment, and assisting with presentation and analysis of monitoring results.

  • Conduct field work as required, including appropriate collection/dispatch of samples and maintenance of field records.
  • Organise and maintain all environmental monitoring equipment, including calibrations and routine servicing.
  • Maintain a database for all environmental monitoring records.
  • Assist with presentation and analysis of monitoring results.
  • Continue to develop and implement the Environmental Management System (EMS) to drive continual improvement throughout the Port.
  • Oversight of assigned projects, contracts or consultancies related to environmental monitoring programs or data management.
  • Provide input into initiatives as part of the organisation's vision.
  • Assist with responses to environmental incidents, complaints and injured wildlife sightings.
About The Role And You

As an Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for providing support, advice and guidance regarding environmental management to minimise emissions and potential impacts on the sensitive environments and communities around the Port of Townsville and Lucinda.
