Cellar Assistant

The Cellar Assistant is responsible for providing support to the cellar team during vintage and throughout the year. The role involves assisting with all aspects of wine production, including fruit delivery and processing, fermentation management, barrel management, and bottling and tirage line work.

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role achieved through a number of vintages, coupled with a passion for high-quality cool-climate wine. They will also be a graduate of a university winemaking program, with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.

  • Assist with daily operations of the cellar
  • Help with lab work (fruit maturity testing etc)
  • Manage barrels and assist with labelling and packaging
  • Prepare wines for bottling and tirage
  • Work on bottling and tirage line
  • Maintain cellar cleanliness and presentation to a high standard
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of equipment

  • Develop knowledge of our products and processes
  • Maintain accurate records of cellar activities

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role achieved through a number of vintages
  • Graduate of a university winemaking program
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to show initiative and work unsupervised
  • Flexible approach to work with an understanding of the work requirements in vintage
  • Physically able to perform tasks such as plunging red ferments, safely carrying hoses, lifting crates/boxes, and moving barriques, puncheons, etc
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety and a willingness to practice and promote it
  • Enjoy working with and maintaining machinery and equipment
  • Legal and valid Australian driver's license
  • Australian forklift license is a bonus
  • Right to work in Australia
