Job Title: Aboriginal Lead – Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect
Role OverviewThis is an identified position at NSW Health designed for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people with a genuine occupational qualification in the field.
The selected candidate must demonstrate their Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status and address the selection criteria.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the work of Hunter New England in Sexual Assault and Domestic and Family Violence for Aboriginal people in partnership with key managers and leaders.
- Provide culturally safe and appropriate needs assessment and access to therapy counselling and other supports and services tailored to the needs of Aboriginal people who have experienced sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence and their families.
- Coordinate cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with Aboriginal children and families.
- Share knowledge to enhance teams' understanding of culturally sensitive and responsive practice.
- Recognised qualification in Social Work Counselling or Psychology with interest in moving into a Clinical Leadership role trauma-informed service experience or experience of working with community is advantageous.
- Current Unrestricted NSW driver's licence.
- To be eligible for permanent employment you must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen with a current NZ passport.
