
Aboriginal Cultural Specialist – Violence Prevention and Response

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Aboriginal professional to lead our work in prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of cultural safety principles and experience working with Aboriginal communities.
About the Role- This position has been identified as a Genuine Occupational Qualification under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. It is therefore open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people only.
The role involves providing culturally safe and appropriate needs assessment and access to therapy, counselling and other supports and services tailored to the needs of Aboriginal people who have experienced sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence. You will also coordinate cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with Aboriginal children and families.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement culturally safe and responsive practice within the VAN program
- Provide leadership on matters related to Aboriginal health and wellbeing
- Coordinate cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with Aboriginal children and families
- Recognised qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology
- Experience working in a trauma-informed service or working with community would be an advantage
- Current unrestricted NSW driver's licence
