Aboriginal Lead for Violence Prevention and Support Services
Job DescriptionThis role involves leading work in Sexual Assault and Domestic and Family Violence prevention and response for Aboriginal people, working in partnership with managers and leaders. The position will also involve providing culturally safe and appropriate needs assessment and access to therapy, counselling, and other supports and services tailored to the needs of Aboriginal people who have experienced sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence and their families.
The role includes a professional development plan, access to cultural and clinical supervision, and professional development through the NSW Health ECAV. This team includes First Nations staff and provides regular collegial and cultural support, networking, and planning.
Responsibilities- Lead or progress to lead the work of Hunter New England in Sexual Assault and Domestic and Family Violence for Aboriginal people, in partnership with key managers and leaders.
- Provide culturally safe and appropriate needs assessment and access to therapy, counselling, and other supports and services tailored to the needs of Aboriginal people who have experienced sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence and their families.
- Coordinate cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with Aboriginal children and families.
- Share knowledge to enhance teams' understanding of culturally sensitive and responsive practice.
- Required recognised qualification in Social Work, Counselling, or Psychology.
- Interest in moving into a Clinical Leadership role; trauma-informed service experience or experience of working with community is advantageous.
- To be eligible for permanent employment you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen with a current NZ passport.
- An eligibility list will be created for future permanent/full-time or part-time vacancies.
- This position is full time; job share and/or part-time arrangements may be considered.
